Dreams Of Perfection by Rebecca Heflin

Best-selling romance writer Darcy Butler is holding out for perfection in the form of her own carefully-crafted heroes. Once blissfully engaged to be married, Darcy’s post-traumatic commitment phobia is depriving her of the very thing she wants most: her very own happily-ever-after. Now, here she is just six months shy of her thirtieth birthday, and not a Prince Charming in sight.

Successful lawyer Josh Ryan is the boy-next-door with a soft spot for the less fortunate, and Darcy’s best friend without benefits. Darcy often comes to him lamenting her love-life, or the lack thereof, whereupon Josh patiently doles out his sage advice. Problem is Josh is in love with Darcy.

But when Darcy finds herself looking into the handsome face of the man who graces the cover of her soon-to-be-released novel, she’s convinced her dreams of perfection have come true. Or have they?

Sweet, Romantic, funny, & heartfelt book.

(spoiler Alert)

Darcy Butler is  a romance author, very successful, strong, and lives a life where she seems to think what she writes is true, there is a perfect man out there somewhere for her. she is  about to turn 30 and she feels like she is at the age where if she doesn’t find mr. perfect then she will never get to have her perfect husband and perfect kids, basically perfect life. Her best friend Josh has been in love with her since he first met her but he is afraid to ruin their friendship if he tells her. Then theirs Laura her best friend who is funny, slutty and just doesn’t care, she is out to have fun for a s long as she can but she is also very successful in advertising. Laura and Josh kind of pick a each other almost the entire book, having little snide comments for each other every time they cross paths. I found it quite funny.

when Laura gets hurts and ends up in the emergency room and Darcy comes to her aide she meets the Dr that is taking care of Laura and faints, he is the exact same perfect man on her new to be released novel. she is sure that Laura is playing a joke on her but she has never seen the ARC yet and she never reads Darcys books until they are released. Darcy starts dating him guy but he seems all to perfect for me, their is no such man. Their either flying off to have diner in Maine or some opera or a gallery and he’s always perfectly dressed and looking better then every man in the room, too good to be true right? Then he’s constantly getting emergency calls to fly off to do some surgery or he is needed at the OR in the hospital he works in. All the while when Darcy kisses him she doesn’t feel that kiss she thinks is perfect and she believes will happen to her when she meets the perfect man. also something always interrupts when they are about to have sex so she never does get to have sex with him either. She doesn’t know how ot tell him her book is being released and he is the man she describes to perfectly in the book and even looks just like him. Josh is suspicious and since he is a attorney investigates him and finds he is who he says he is, all the while he is so jealous of him an the wants to tell Darcy his true feelings but just never gets too, he gets interrupted when he finally gets the courage to do it by the great perfect DR.

Darcy all the while seems to have these feeling for Josh that she just is missing and all the signs are there, she writes them off as something else every time. When she sees him with another woman she thinks he is dating she gets jealous and he’s not dating her just being Josh , the boy next door behavior, being nice because she is having a hard time in her life. the entire book I want to smack her and say wake up. There is no Mr perfect and Josh is him for you.  Finally she gets really jealous when him and Laura seem to become friends and are spending time together and she realizes she is in love with him. Its about time! Then when he 30th birthday party rolls around and Josh is late and Laura is late she thinks their together,  like sexually but Josh shows up late then Laura after him, but he finally decides and so does Darcy to tlel him she love him and vise versa.  of course there is another reason Darcy realizes this and a reason Josh can’t hold it in any longer but that part I just really don’t want to spoil for anyone so you’ll just have to read it.

All in all it is a good love story, well written, not to bad sex scenes, I mean  not rated X so sorry if that’s what your looking for but this is a good sex scene and not too dirty, just nice, not too perfect and not too clean either.

I really enjoyed the book and it didn’t take me very long to read it. pretty easy and fast read. holds your interest and you can relate to the characters on many different levels. always a plus in my book. Nothing that will confuse you or distract your reading it (unless its your husband or kids etc..), or make you want ot put it down. I thiks its a thoroughly enjoyable read and i’m not the biggest reader of romance novels.

I was given this for aa hinest review and I do give it a 5 star all the way!
